Sahak Sahakyan Museum

Sahak Sahakyan Museum is a museum founded on May 31, 2024, by the initiative and efforts of the family of Armenian sculptor and painter Sahak Sahakyan. The museum is located in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan, at 10 Mayis 9 Street. The museum was created in the building on the third floor of which the famous painter-sculptor lived and created for many years. 

The museum displays more than 1,000 exhibits by the master. Sahak Sahakyan mainly used clay, wood, cloth, stone and other means as working materials.
Sahak Sahakyan is originally from Western Armenia, from Mush, and was born in Stepanavan. The first museum is located in his birthplace, where more than 170 works are presented.
Sahak Sahakyan is a member of the Union of Artists of Armenia, a laureate of gold, silver and bronze medals and awards. Sahak Sahakyan has participated in numerous all-Union and international exhibitions and is the author of numerous paintings and sculptures.

 His series of about 250 bas-reliefs based on the hero of the Armenian epic "Sasna Tsrer" - David of Sasun - is noteworthy, where one can clearly see the artist's enormous dedication to his work and great professionalism. This is a unique approach to the Armenian epic, since Sahak Sahakyan is the only one whose bas-reliefs dedicated to David of Sasun are so numerous that they arouse admiration. He has made a great contribution to the great mission of preserving, developing Armenian culture and presenting it honorably to the world. 
His works make one immerse oneself in endlessly contradictory and colorful images, the great master has put wisdom and imagination into his works and has also paid great attention to different cultures (Muslim, European - French, Czech, etc.).
